John was raised in an entrepreneurial family and understands the sacrifices, stress, risks and hard work that business ownership brings to an owner and the owner’s family. An experienced business owner, he owns a land and cattle business with a ranch, minerals, petroleum, and timber resources. He took a startup petroleum gathering and distribution venture to a $12 million business, then completed a strategic sale. John manages petroleum loans purchased from the FDIC. He has bought and sold manufacturing, business services and oil-processing operations.

An IBG Business founder, John C. Johnson is the Partner for its Heartland States Region. John created and built BluestemUSA, and the Oil and Gas Advisor M&A broker and advisor firms. His early career was in strategy, management systems, investment economics and acquisitions with Union Pacific Corporation/Champlin Petroleum and Standard Oil’s Amoco Production Company. For decades, he has guided clients in their business sales and acquisitions.

John C. Johnson is a recognized leader. Earning a petroleum engineering degree as an Honors Scholar then an MBA at Texas Christian University, his career has progressed through leadership accomplishments. John is a Lifetime Certified Business Intermediary (CBI), a Master Merger and Acquisition Intermediary – Fellow (M&AMI) and a licensed real estate broker. He is past President of the International Business Brokers Association and a founding member and President of The Merger and Acquisitions (M&A) Source. He led in strengthening the exam for qualifying certified business intermediaries. John has provided expert testimony on business matters, served as a court-appointed receiver, and authored and taught courses to peers on business sales. He has been in leading roles as officer, director and committee chair in many business and community organizations. Beyond business, John is a committed husband, father, and grandfather.
